Questions.
What it costs, when you get paid, and what happens when something goes wrong.
- What does it cost me?
- Nothing. No commission, no monthly fee, no setup fee — a €10 ticket puts €10 in your account. The buyer pays a 5% + 79c booking fee on each ticket, added at checkout and shown to them before they pay. Free tickets carry no fee.
- When do I get paid?
- Card payments go straight into your own Stripe account and pay out on your own Stripe schedule. We never hold your money — you are the merchant of record, so when a promoter asks who is holding the takings, it is you.
- What if I need to refund someone?
- You do it yourself from your dashboard, no email to us. You pick the reason, and it changes the outcome: changed their mind returns the ticket price and keeps the booking fee, while event cancelled returns everything including the fee. The refunded tickets stop scanning at the door and the seats go back on sale.
- Do I need a Stripe account for a free event?
- No. A free event runs without Stripe at all — nothing to set up and nothing to pay. You still get real tickets with QR codes and the same door scanning.
- How do people get in on the night?
- Your staff sign in on any phone and scan. Nothing to install. A ticket that has already been used is refused, and if a QR will not scan the code can be typed in instead. You can also print the door list.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes — your ticket pages can sit on something like tickets.yourvenue.ie instead of gettickets.ie, in your own branding.
Once Stripe has verified your account, you set it up yourself from your dashboard. You enter the domain and it shows you the DNS records to add: a TXT record that proves the domain is yours, and a CNAME that points it at us (a bare domain like yourvenue.ie gets A records instead). If your DNS is on Cloudflare, set that record to DNS only. Nothing else on your domain changes. Once the records show (usually within an hour), press Check now on that page and your ticket pages go live on it.
If you change or remove the domain later, the old one forwards to the new address until 30 days after the last event with tickets already sold, so tickets already sent keep working. Keep its DNS record in place until then.
Running only free events, with no Stripe account? Email hello@hospitech.ie and we set it up with you. - How long does it take to get set up?
- Minutes. Tell us about the venue, and we email you a link — clicking it confirms the address and your account is ready. From there you connect Stripe yourself and can put an event on sale the same day.
Your gigs appear on gettickets.ie once Stripe has finished verifying you, which is their check on the business behind the account rather than ours. Until then everything works and your own ticket links can be shared — they are just not listed here yet. - Who is behind this?
- Get Tickets is operated by Hospitech Solutions Ltd as agent for participating venues. Tickets are issued by the venue, and the venue holds the money.
